Rec2Tech

  • We asked middle school students to build their ideal communities using craft supplies and SimpleVR. Using a 360 camera, they captured footage of their projects and then transformed themselves into their ideal neighborhoods using virtual reality. The result was incredible – students were excited, engaged, and inspired to see what they had built together.

Rec2Tech took place at five Citiparks rec-centers across Pittsburgh. IRL Labs participated in Digital Corps – a diverse group of educators, makers, and technologists to lead the week at the Warrington Recreation Center. Students learned to use a 360 camera and captured audio recordings of their dreams for their neighborhood. Rec2Tech participants came together over the weekend at Shenley Plaza to celebrate the week.
